Buda 2030 Adopted!

Congratulations Buda!

After over a year of hard work, committed involvement, and diligent review, Buda City Council unanimously adopted the Buda 2030 Comprehensive Plan on October 18, 2011. PDFs of the adopted plan are uploaded here on this project website. And see the story of the plan’s adoption in the Community Impact Newspaper here!

The fun is just about to begin! In order to keep the plan alive and to realize its vision, the citizens, stakeholders, leaders, businesses, and other government entities need to pursue the actions and objectives outlined in Buda 2030.

Do as Green Bay Packer’s coach Vince Lombardi once said:

“Plan you work and work your plan.”

Final Draft of Buda 2030 on Project Website

Thanks to all the hard work provided by Buda’s residents and interested stakeholders! During the month of August, you had an opportunity to review a draft of the comprehensive plan document and provide your input to the city or on the project website.

Based on comments received from citizens, Planning & Zoning Commission, and City Council during the month of August, changes to the first draft have been made, and a final draft has been posted to the project website. Public Meeting #3 Materials Posted

I hope you made it to the last public meeting! Key near-term actions were presented on Tuesday evening, and we heard questions and comments back about those. You can review the meeting materials on the project website.

Next Steps!

The Planning Team is in the process of writing the final document. We’ll be reviewing it with City staff and the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee. We’ll post a draft of the document on the project website for your review. After that we’ll begin presentations to the City boards and commissions before moving to City Council for adoption of the comprehensive plan.

Final Public Meeting to Present Prioritized Recommendations and Draft Plan

At Meeting #2 in March, we presented the proposed land use plan and draft ideas of the recommendations for the comprehensive plan, and YOU provided your input on those ideas and what you feel is most important. We’ve taken that information and have fine-tuned the recommendations and prioritized actions for the next few years.

Join us for a presentation on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Tom Green Elementary (1301 Old Goforth Rd) for a presentation of the draft plan document and prioritized recommendations. The presentation starts at 6:30 pm, and will be followed by an opportunity for questions and comments.

Nearly 100 people packed the Kunkel Room on March 10 to hear about and discuss draft recommendations for the future of Buda. Citizens engaged in a conversation about ideas for various planning elements, helping us to prioritize what Buda needs to focus on as we move into the future.

Citizen Survey is Live Online

In November and December we got great response from the mail-out survey about your opinions for Buda and its future! We are continuing the survey online! If you missed it or didn’t have a chance to fill it out, we have put it on the web to give you MORE time to give us your feedback.

Nov 30 Public Workshop Huge Success!

On November 30, around 115 people gathered in the Kunkel Room at Buda Elementary to engage in a discussion about Buda’s strengths and challenges the city faces with growth, and to create vision statements for Buda in 2030. Information from this meeting will help the planning team draft a vision for the updated comprehensive plan and identify goals and recommendations for the future. Future public meetings in the spring will allow residents of Buda explore and comment on these recommendations. Stay tuned!
