Your participation and input in this planning process is crucial for its success. As a resident or employee of Buda, you have the greatest insight and interest in what will become of your city in 5, 10, or even 20 years. Your input is the key to creating a comprehensive plan that truly and holistically represents the vision of the citizens of Buda.
Opportunities to Get Involved:
Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee (CPAC). The Buda City Council appointed a 15-member advisory committee to guide City staff and the consultant with regards to the planning process and update. The CPAC will meet 8 times periodically throughout the planning process to review findings and draft reports. These meetings are open to the public. Agendas of past and upcoming meetings can be found in the Documents page under CPAC.
Stakeholder Discussion Meetings. The CPAC and City staff will identify stakeholders who are or will be instrumental in implementing the comprehensive plan and making it a reality. The planning team will engage the stakeholders to discuss issues with implementation of the past plan, and opportunities for implementation in the future.
Citizen Surveys. A citizen survey was mailed out in mid-November to gather citizen input about issues, opportunities, goals, and a vision for Buda, and results from the nearly 550 surveys were tabulated in early 2011.
Public Meetings. Citizens of Buda and others with interests in Buda will have the opportunity to discuss issues, opportunities, and their vision for Buda at public meetings throughout the process. The first public workshop was held on November 30 at Buda Elementary to discuss Buda’s strengths, challenges the city faces as it grows, and to develop a vision for the future. Information from this meeting will help the planning team develop a vision for the updated comprehensive plan and identify goals and recommendations for the future. Toward the end of the process, citizens will have the opportunity to review recommendations and make comments on those recommendations.
